"The Journey of Life" is McClelland's interpretation of the 22 images of the major arcana in the tarot.
McClelland has always had a fascination for the symbolism, nature and the mysteries of life and beyond. The tarot seemed to blend all these ideas together. As she became more familiar with the imagery, she realized how universal the symbolism was within each image of the major arcana and how symbolism and cycles in one's spiritual life can match those of nature's cycle as well as, the seasons and the moon's cycles. We are forever discovering more about ourselves, our world and universe, through understanding how old and ancient the stars and our universe are and our connection to them is. Oral tradition has put the tarot keys as ancient as the lost continent of Atlantis, where the lost knowledge was put into symbols. The symbolism within each image speaks to the spirit and soul in a way that words cannot.

In 1991 she decided to try painting her own tarot images. These images would be part of 'The Star Deck'. The name inspired by her love and fascination for the stars. Each image was a labor of love, taking up to three months to complete. In 1996 she completed the fifth image of this series and took a long break. In the summer of 2005 she decided to finish this series. She had 17 paintings to go. A spiritual journey in its self. The imagery depicted in her images are inspired by meditation, long walks in the woods, nature, her knowledge of the tarot and the influence of different cultural symbols and myths.
